PLAN YOUR VISIT

Welcome to St. John's Lutheran Church

Whether you are new to church, returning after time away, or looking for a Lutheran church home, we are glad you are here.

At St. John's, we gather around God's Word and Sacraments, receiving the gifts God freely gives through His Son, Jesus Christ. We invite you to join us as we worship, learn, and grow together in the faith.

What Should I Wear?

There is no dress code at St. John's.

You will find some people dressed in suits, dresses, and ties, while others wear jeans, shorts, and tennis shoes. We simply encourage everyone to dress respectfully as we gather in God's house.

Most importantly, we want you to know that you are welcome. We will never turn someone away because of their appearance, background, circumstances, or past. Whether you are a lifelong Christian, exploring the faith for the first time, or simply looking for a place to worship, you are welcome here.

Where Do I Park?

St. John's has two parking lots, located on the east and west sides of the church building. Both are easily accessible and provide convenient access to the church.

When you arrive, you can enter through the large wooden doors on either side of the church. Once you enter the church, if you need assistance finding your way, our greeters will be happy to help.

What Can I Expect in Worship?

Our worship services follow a traditional Lutheran liturgy.

The liturgy is a historic pattern of worship rooted in Scripture that includes prayers, hymns, readings from God's Word, confession and absolution, preaching, and the celebration of Holy Communion. Worship is participatory, with the congregation joining together in prayer, singing, and responses throughout the service.

If you have never attended a Lutheran service before, don't worry. Everything you need is provided in the bulletin, and our congregation will gladly help you follow along.

Services typically last about one hour.

Holy Communion

We celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday and Wednesday.

Because the Lord's Supper is both a gift from Christ and a confession of our shared faith, Holy Communion is offered to members of Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod congregations and churches with whom we are in altar and pulpit fellowship.

If you are visiting and have questions about receiving Communion, please speak with Pastor Bersche before the service. We would be happy to visit with you.

Children in Worship

Children are a treasured gift from God, and we welcome them in worship.

We encourage children to participate in the service and invite them forward for the Children's Message during Sunday's service.

For parents with infants or inconsolable children, a cry room is located just off the sanctuary. The room includes a large viewing window into the sanctuary and speakers, allowing parents to continue participating in worship while caring for their children.

Bible Study and Sunday School

Adult Bible Study is offered on Sundays at 9:15 a.m.

Sunday School for children is offered during the school year and takes a break during the summer months.

Whether you are new to the Bible or have studied it for many years, you are welcome to join us as we learn God's Word together.

We're Here to Help

When you arrive, you'll find friendly greeters in the narthex ready to welcome you and answer questions.

Be sure to stop by our Welcome Table, where you'll find information about the congregation, ministries, Bible studies, and upcoming events. Visitors are also invited to take a complimentary St. John's coffee mug and pen as our gift.

We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to St. John's Lutheran Church.
